I don't recall anyone dying 'for reals' in the comic. Dusky is probably just going to 'set her right' with his naive boyish charm. Or think he did, and then get laughed at. And then inverted again once the siren is out of sight as a punchline.

It does appear that Marine's previous victims have died for reals. Which does seem rather to raise the stakes in this current story, if the writers don't fudge it.

Which at best puts her on a level with a dangerous wild animal that might possibly be transported out of the area, but may well have to be put down for public safety. But she appears to be sapient, which means that she has choice about how she feeds her hunger. I'm curious as to how Marine eats. If she sucks the energy out of her victims much like a succubus and they subsequently drown because they don't have the energy to swim then it would appear less suspicious than bite marks and missing parts.
