Nina is an exception, not the norm. Just because it was possible for her, doesn't mean the same would apply to the rest of her family, or vampires in general. In much the same way that Bosco was an exception among vampires (
'Phatom Quest Corp.'), by conditioning himself to be able to walk around in broad daylight.

It doesn't take much to pique Tiffany's interest, and it's long been established that she has a habit of envisioning danger when there isn't any. Which is why she kept trying to stake Layla and thinks of Faith as a megalomaniac. So is it really that surprising she'd jump to the conclusion that the drowning victims were being lead to their deaths by some supernatural horror?
