Marine may not have a choice, due to it being in her nature.

Case in point: vampires need blood. Even in works such as EC and 'Phantom Quest Corp.', where vampires are capable of eating human food, it's established that they still need blood, regardless. Which Layla and Bosco both pointed out, when confronted about it.

It could be the same for Marine.

It could be she specifically needs to feed on humans.
or, it could simply be that she occupies ls a very narrow niche in the foodchain; her siren song only works on humans, so humans are what she hunts.

Vampires have the option of not killing when they feed, as do succubi. Also if Nina is any indication EC vampires don't "need" to drink blood, it just is good for their health and strength and is a strong compulsion. Marine would theoretically have some options. After all if sirens as a race needed to eat human flesh then the disappearances that attracted Tiffany to this beach would not be considered unusual. If a single siren hunting could be that noticeable then imagine a whole race of beings who have to do the same? No, I'd say Marine could be an extremist siren who kills humans for some reason other than need.

Its like how one clear sign sharks do not usually consider humans food is because if they did there would be a lot more attacks.

Alternatively, most sirens subsist off humans who die at sea of other causes.

Nina is an exception, not the norm. Just because it was possible for her, doesn't mean the same would apply to the rest of her family, or vampires in general. In much the same way that Bosco was an exception among vampires ('Phatom Quest Corp.'), by conditioning himself to be able to walk around in broad daylight.

It doesn't take much to pique Tiffany's interest, and it's long been established that she has a habit of envisioning danger when there isn't any. Which is why she kept trying to stake Layla and thinks of Faith as a megalomaniac. So is it really that surprising she'd jump to the conclusion that the drowning victims were being lead to their deaths by some supernatural horror?

Notice that Tracy didn't think anything was amiss, until Dusky told her why Tiffany had shown up.

To be fair, Tracy could just be less motivated than Tiffany when it comes to looking out for signs of cryptid activity.

Cryptids need to uphold the masquerade, since they'd be annihilated if modern humanity at large became aware of them once again. Slayers and such need to keep up with events and filter them to bypass that masquerade. Some will do the work; others will wait for their marching orders from their superiors.

I want to point that most of the monsters Tiff was expecting to find (a sharkman, or a lamprey monster, or a Cthulian eldritch horror) would probably have left behind partially devoured corpses or at least huge teeth marks (well, not so sure about the eldritch abomination; it may eat souls and not bodies) instead of drowned corpses, so while Tiff was right about the presence of a dangerous cryptid, it may be due to dumb luck rather than to solid reasoning and good deduction process.
