I think Teddy's been waiting to hear from or about Chloe, but since no one else has had the balls to actually talk to her, Teddy has reluctantly taken it upon himself to do so. That he had to interrupt the girls playing dress up with their newest doll is probably just a side benefit for him.

OK, just how is 'he' handling heels? I'd have thought Teddy would have been more than a little unsteady on them... or is there a secret that we don't know about him?

Or maybe, the whole idea that a boy trying on heels for the first time is going to be laughingly awkward is a comic trope not based on reality?

Walking in heels is a skill for anybody. A girl trying them for the first time might well be comically awkward.
