While I thought it possible for them to fuse I did not think Light Melissa could wield the wand if she any of Hekate's essence remained in Dark Melissa. As such it appears that Dark Melissa is willingly purging herself of it so as to defeat Cerise. If so then what becomes of the essence? If Cerise reabsorbs it then she and Melissa will be back to where they first started fighting. The only difference is Cerise does not have Skye as a battery anymore.

I wasn't expecting them to recombine this soon, but I saw it coming. Not only is she accepting her faults, but she appears to be accepting the wand as well. I've theorized that she would at some point. If I'm right, we're finally about to see Mel's Magical Maid form.

What I'm really curious about though, is whether the witch costume is really the true manifestation of the wand's power. Mel still thinks of herself as a witch, but that may not be the case, which might explain why why she ends up with a gaudy looking witch costume (i.e. she's fighting what she's meant to be). It may turn out that once she finally accepts the wand and herself for what they are, they'll finally sync, allowing her to manifest her true power. Which could be the magical maid form we saw in her nightmare, or something similar.

Must be fusing. They already combined power once against Cerise ("Stay out of this!") and bound her up until they got distracted. Plus, we've only got ten or so strips left (unless they're letting things run longer than Giz said in the shutdown notice), and there must be SOME sort of epilogue...

It's... I don't get the "leap" DarkMel's made here:
1) Even if LightMel is "stumbling", DarkMel's free to flank Cerise.
2) Faith is virtually back in the game, Callie and Gabrielle appeared to be recovering as a result of Faith's actions, Jacqui's okay and Amelia, Sandi & Tandy are floating around somewhere. Plus the League Of Vanishing Extras. Mel(s) do(es)n't need to do this alone, as DarkMel is implying.
3) Melissa "stumbled", as DarkMel put it - just as her fragments have now, before. It was how Cerise managed to distract & inject Dark Power into her in the first place!

Actually, worse - Cerise had only half the power before. And yeah, that just points out that they'd be losing total power as a result of the fusion, unless the point is that the Dark and Light are *willingly* coming together rather than rejecting one another...

And there's only three options here really AISI. We're past Cerise standing down, or being captured:
1) Cerise dies. Either at Mel(s) hands, or by suicide, or by blowing up from too much power, or whatever.
2) Cerise gets depowered. Not just of the Dark Power, the entire "curse" is purged from her blood, leaving her flatscan-human.
3) Cerise gets sent Far Far Away where she can't make it back under her own steam (Shadow Kingdom?).

Cerise-with-all-power-and-no-battery fits with (1).

Simple: it's because they're divided. Mel's no good to herself (or anyone else) that way. She needs to be whole again to make full use of her power; wand included.

1) Cerise dies. Either at Mel(s) hands, or by suicide, or by blowing up from too much power, or whatever.

I doubt they're gonna kill off Cerise, since it'd serve no narrative purpose. Plus, there'd be no one to replace her with. Besides, she isn't the only one with something to answer for, when this is over.

The faculty's gonna have to decide what to do with Mel and Jacqui, since they're witches. Though I suspect either their actions in helping save the school, or the CH principal's connections may earn them leniency. And Faith will at least need to be monitored for the foreseeable future, until she gains better control of her power.

we shall see if there is a Cerise redemption or not and than on to rescue of Mel's moms and maybe how Faith and school handle the 2 "good witches" (Mel and Jacqui) before the hiatus

The implication of "we just can't keep her down" to me was that regardless of their numbers and power nothing they are doing has been enough to do more than stun or briefly trap Cerise. Since it was "complete" Mel that Cerise feared most through this I assume "dark" Mel has come to the conclusion that that is the only thing available to truly stop her.

Ah, and so this is how Mel winds up even stronger... by getting only half of the dose Hekate intended for her, which is not enough to "purge her" of the wand's power.

The implication of "we just can't keep her down" to me was that regardless of their numbers and power nothing they were doing has been enough to stun or briefly trap Cerise. Since it was "complete" Mel that Cerise feared most through this I assume "dark" Mel has come the the conclusion that that is the only thing available to truly stop her.

It's only been the two Mel's fighting her though and they've both had chances to end the fight before now. The problem was, they couldn't stop bickering with each other long enough to get it done. In a physical and metaphorical sense, Mel was fighting herself more than she was fighting Cerise, which is what allowed her to escape each time.

So now Mel's decided to squash that, by not only admitting that there's a part of herself that she doesn't like (i.e. the wicked witch isn't as wicked as she'd like to be), she's admitting that she needs 'her' help - wand included. So I agree with the last part of your post, albeit for different reasons.

But she didn't really. She hates Mel, yes, but there's never been any indication that she fears a reunited Melissa any more than the LightMel/DarkMel twins. Or Faith, especially after the last strip - remember, only Mel & Jacqui were intended for the volcano out of personal hatred rather than fear.

The only way a complete Melissa is any more of a threat to her than anyone else is the possibility that Hekate may intervene again if, say, Callie struck the finishing blow. And none of the actors here, least of all Mel(s), know about that! (It isn't even clear CERISE knows what healed her! She was pretty out of it with the whole "dying" thing - and, again, note that a sword wielded by a ninja was enough to finish her - and she *certainly* doesn't know Hekate's reason even if she knows she did it.)

Hell, if DarkMel/Jacqui/Faith/etc could keep Cerise busy for a few minutes, LightMel could fly around zapping all the "Hekate Academy" students and Cerise would have the entire school to deal with.

The only conclusion I can come to is that DarkMel got all the insecurity/self-loathing in the split, and she's projecting it all onto herself, not LightMel. She wants to Go Away, even if she can't admit it.

Otherwise, it's the shape of a story they haven't been (but think they are?) telling imposed over the one they have.][quote=
