@Searcher: If Layla was being influenced by Lamia, or if she was enthralling Brooke (possibly both), then yeah... it needs to end. It'd be the same as what happened to Ash and Dio, by having an outside force making Layla and Brooke act on feelings that aren't their own.

Prior to Lamia's takeover, she repeatedly made it clear that she wasn't into other girls. Some wanted to see it as denial, but the evidence doesn't support it. Likewise, Brooke wouldn't have "begged" Layla for anything, under normal circumstances.

I don't think Lamalya has Brooke *literally* enthralled. Manipulating her, using her, etc absolutely; but she picked up on Brooke's not-as-dead-as-she-thought crush and is just pushing her buttons like she's going for a Tetris high score!

What's going on in the "real world" anyway? Surely Lamayla must be showing *some* reaction to everything happening here...

If Layla had absolutly no interest in girls, her subconscious wouldnt have had a bicurious side. But it did, we met her.

I think it can be taken as read in comic strips where the readers see personifications of characters' personality components that everyone has a bi-curious side. No cartoonist could resist the challenge of drawing it. It just may not ever get to take charge of the body.

Being curious about something doesn't define who you are.

If Layla really had any interest in other girls, she had a prime opportunity to say so and act on it during the "War Dance" arc. The entire school thought she was a lesbian, they supported it, and a bunch of girls (many of whom TCampbell said were hot) took her to dance so they could be seen on her arm. Layla's popularity had skyrocketed.

Possibly, but she'd have be to be damn near psychic to pick up on Brooke's feelings for Layla, since she never told anyone about it; including Ace, when he asked her who her crush was. So I do have to wonder how Laymia knew?

I've actually question the whole idea of Layla ( or miss big bad evil thing) having to 'use' mind control on Brooke, Brooke doesn't need to be trick, coercers or other wise forced into doing Layla bidding. Her crush (and not for one moment do I believe she has ever been over it) acknowledges her existence and wants to spend time with her ... Brooke would do just about anything not to make that change. The Big Miss Badie (whatever her names is, don't remember, don't care; she will be dust in the wind soon) knew this from Layla's memories and was quite willing to reciprocate, thus insuring she had a follower no matter what and at almost no cost to her.

Long story short: Brooke is the big loser here, she is going to get heartbroken no matter how you slice it and ... well ... that is the real tragedy of this arc.

Except Brooke's never gone along with anything Layla's suggested. At least, not willingly. Certainly not enough to beg her for anything. It's out of character for her.

At the slumber party, Layla had to rope her into getting a makeover, made Nina strip her, and shoved her into the shower. Later, when Mel and Layla showed up at her place to have her paint their picture, Brooke did a self-portrait instead. See what I'm saying?

Sure, Brooke has feelings for her, but she has too much self-respect under normal circumstances, to lower herself the way that she did.

Which is worse: Brooke ending up with hurt feelings? Or Layla being stripped of her identity, and possibly Brooke as well, for the sake of them being together?

If big baddy wins, Nina will tell Brooke what is going on and she would fight fang and nail to help Layla, even though she knows she loses Layla. Hence,

When Layla finishes slapping Big baddie and regain control, she will tell Brooke the truth. Brooke will but on a brave face and move on but in the end

Also, Brooke is not the same snake as she was at the slumber party. She is more self assured and more willing to explore her sexuality. And we know she had a crush on Layla ... so it is not a big leap of faith that Brooke, on her own without any special prodding or voodoo magic, would leap at a chance to be with Layla.

Brooke has feelings for Layla, but she'd never debase herself for her. We saw that when Layla tried to pressure her into that kiss in front of the school. Brooke slapped her and said she couldn't do it, before she ran off. I'd have a hard time believing the same girl would willingly become Laymia's pet, unless there was some sort of enthrallment going on. Even Ace found that odd.

That's the vexing thing about this story, there's a far more interesting one going on outside Layla's skull. Watching Nina and that girl who's into her wander around interacting with no other cast members just doesn't cut it in comparison. You'd think a Layla centric story would have her in it more. But we haven't really learned much about her and there's no way to tell what any of this actually means for her.
