Yeah, the creative team doesnt seem to like MC. But it's my favorite one they do. So, disappointed.

I don't think that "they don't like MC". That's (in my opinion) a rather silly accusation to make against a creative team (and I've seen it too many times*, pisses me off every time because I can see that's not the case). However, I could accept that they might have somehow managed to write themselves in a corner and are having a hard time deciding how to best proceed (along with coinciding artist problems).
*off-topic example (and not-so-hidden "advertisement" of something that I love deeply): In one my most favorite games (and STORIES) of all time, that of The Longest Journey, in the first game we meet (and play as) the amazing protagonist April Ryan. In its sequel, Dreamfall, the main protagonist is another girl, Zoe Castillo, and there are 2 secondary protagonists, Kian Alvane and April Ryan (who was lead in the 1st game). Due to plot reasons that I don't want to reveal (because you should *really* check out these incredible games/stories without being affected by spoilers) April Ryan "has it rough" in Dreamfall and even her personality has "evolved" in a less pleasant direction (ten years have passed between games). However, the majority of the fans still care more about April than Zoe. Finally, when two years ago, the sequel to the story was Kickstarted , there were quite a few people who were accusing that the writers, saying that they "obviously don't like April anymore" and "want to get rid of April" and stuff like that. And again, that couldn't be further from the truth, as proven soon after when they announced plans for a future 4th game (The Longest Journey Home) starring only April.
(Dreamfall: Chapters -the 1st out of 5 parts/Books- is coming out on October 21st for Windows/Mac/Linux and next year for the Playstation 4 as well)

This. If they were going to *have* to put MC on hiatus, they should have announced it a month earlier (when it went on de facto hiatus), and held back on starting again until they had some strips in the can rather than throwing out a couple of random updates. I have a lot more respect for people who say "I can't manage this" and step back than people who just let stuff drift, especially when the result is the same either way.ven wrote:Teasing with one update ever so often is rather mean. Would be better to build a buffer and get back to normal updates later I guess.
Kinda. A story like this lives or dies by the pacing as much as anything else. 2 pages/week is already pretty slow, so when they fall well below that, it hurts things.Cranium wrote:So it is the Lack of Updates ... Since 271 (October 18 2013 It was the Last appearance of Jacqui and Tiffany) that upsets me the most. 31 installments have been missed (8 by Cassandra and 23 by Shouri), and I not counting holidays special pics into those numbers. AT a rate of 2 installments per week that "should" be out, means story easily behind ... oh ... say ... 15 weeks.
I still think the big mistake they made was having Mel overpower and Team Rocketify Cerise when they arrived at "Hekate Academy", compounded by Cerise needing Hekate to bail her out of "Skye's" backstab and then running away from her group. After a lot of build-up of her being really damn powerful, albeit short-sighted and petty, suddenly she's neither smart *nor* powerful.CFT wrote:However, I could accept that they might have somehow managed to write themselves in a corner and are having a hard time deciding how to best proceed (along with coinciding artist problems).

Interesting, might have a look at that sometime.CFT wrote:I don't think that "they don't like MC". I don't think it's a liking MC issue, there was a lot of work, artist change and MC just did get the short end of the stick. Rather sad.
Don't know if they really made a mistake at all. That stuff didn't bother me. I always thought Cerise is rather stupid, so the great plan was more a one time lucky guess than anything else. She is still powerful, even the most powerful aren't safe all the time, a sneak attack can always be fatal.Zippy wrote: I still think the big mistake they made was having Mel overpower and Team Rocketify Cerise when they arrived at "Hekate Academy", compounded by Cerise needing Hekate to bail her out of "Skye's" backstab and then running away from her group. Maybe you're right - we're looking at something incomplete after all! We'll see whenever it finishes.

Assuming it ever does, which frankly is starting to look a little iffy at this point.

Well Fragile is updating on schedule. I think we got 3 of those since the last MC. Looks like Shouri really isnt interested in MC.
Maybe with Vampire Cheerleaders wrapping up we can recruit Michael Shelfer?

With all due respect, I think those of you who are becoming impatient with the updates should maybe take the advice of the title of this thread: give her a chance. It's the least we can all do given that the comic is offered for free, and though I am a little disappointed with the lack of updates, I am nothing if not patient.
For those curious: my avatar is an artistic rendering of a spaceship I drew for a primitive (by today's standards) multiplayer online game called XPilot. (More about both on my website.)

Too true. Yeah, it's getting a tad irritating, but it doesn't mean Shouri should quit.

Anyway, the lack of any announcements beside "Shouri's a tight schedule for other works" is puzzling. Especially since Fragile is back. But I wouldn't like to have Shouri get ill, either. As a former reader of D.Gray-Man, I'm too well aware that an author with a bad health is one of the worst thing that can happen to a comic.

Ultimately, this can't be helping the series in any way. Fewer updates means people not checking in as regularly and at least some giving up on ever checking in at all.
Well, you were one of the posters already wondering if Shouri could keep up back in the thread where Cassandra announced she was leaving MC owing to other things in her life preventing her from giving the series her full attention and Shouri was taking over, since the latter had a bunch of other stuff going on and (as someone else pointed out) Fragile and the inking on EC were already running behind at that point.vampire hunter D wrote:I didnt mean Shouri should quit. Yes, I did point out the scale of the workload she had taken on. And I did express concern that she may nit have been able to keep up.

Re: Magick Chicks 24-09-14 Give her a chance
I don't think people are unwilling to give her a chance to catch up, they just want an answer as to what to expect. I'm in the camp that would be fine with a lengthy hiatus so long as we were told the series was going on one, how long the break was expected to be etc. Silence and lack of information is just frustrating.Insectoid wrote:With all due respect, I think those of you who are becoming impatient with the updates should maybe take the advice of the title of this thread: give her a chance.
