Heyyyyy... no fair interfering!!
I see that Dakota's still hanging in there.
Is random dark-haired girl important, aside from knocking "Skye" over?

For those curious: my avatar is an artistic rendering of a spaceship I drew for a primitive (by today's standards) multiplayer online game called XPilot. (More about both on my website.)

Hey! Divine interventions (or is this perhaps undivine?) are prohibited in battles between mortals!

HUH??
Okay, so... if the imposter wasn't Rain... who's she ? And where's Rain been all this time?
And it looks like that backstab was effective after all, if Hecate feels the need to personally intervene. I notice she appeared from the wound in Cerise's back. So does this mean the 'dark essence' has been expunged from her body? Possibly returning her to normal?

Okay, I'm sorry, but even though we knew that wouldn't work in the end that is Diablous Ex Machina levels of bullshit right there.
On a semi-related note that's a pretty solid indicator that Cerise isn't nearly as invincible as she likes to think she is. If, even after taking on that much power, a sword in the back is so damaging to Cerise that Hekate has to pop out of the "Villain's Box of Bullshit Evil Tricks" to remedy it then this entire build up might become an 8-Bit Theater level of anti-climax.
Then again maybe it's just the two updates a week thing breaking the overall flow for me.

This is getting weird. How can a goddess do whatever she wants in another goddesses "temple" and no other god( especially Artemis ) is annoyed by it and enters the fray itself. o.O There has to be some rules.

Not really. We've known Hecate's been observing the situation for awhile now and that she has a vested interest in it, 'cuz she needs Mel to kill Cerise. Not some strange girl. Therefore, Hecate getting directly involved is hardly out of left-field.SilentChaos87 wrote:Okay, I'm sorry, but even though we knew that wouldn't work in the end that is Diablous Ex Machina levels of bullshit right there.
Being run through with a sword is hardly minor. Cerise has power, but apparently, hers isn't on the same level as Ana's. Though now I'm curios: Ana and Dakota said they'd each lost a chunk of their power when they gave birth to Mel. Yet, Ana can still laugh off a sword through the back and regenerate half her face.SilentChaos87 wrote:On a semi-related note that's a pretty solid indicator that Cerise isn't nearly as invincible as she likes to think she is. If that's her idea of "weakened", she must've been nigh unstoppable at her peak.

Could it be just Shouri drawing Rain in a "weird"/unrecognizable way? Because fake-Skye not being Rain is far more weird of an explanation than a simple art "error".Gotoh wrote:HUH??

As for the "intervention" being acceptable or not (from a narrative point of view), I'd say that yes, it does feel a bit like an unecessary development to the story (as we've seen Anastasia laugh off a similar stab that was even made with a magical sword spefically chosen to kill her, so Cerise doing the same would seem "natural" to us), but it's not too bad, if you think it in ... RPG mechanics: you could argue that one of Cerise's "abilities" now is that she can call Hekate for a "favor" once per day (or something), and she just used her "wish" for today (I'm certain that she's not getting any more help until the fight is over).
I'm also still a bit curious if Cerise's total inaction (not even a "scream" as fake-Skye pointed) is 100% due to being very seriously wounded or if it's also partially due to the shock of getting backstabbed by your most trusted one. Unfortunately though, Hekate's intervention also revealed fake-Skye's "masquerade", so this sub-plot isn't going to go on any further now.

So if it wasn't for Hekate interfering, that would have killed Cerise. So Hekate will keep Cerise alive unless it's Melissa that kills her? That's cheating.

Maybe, but if that's supposed to be Rain, his hair's different.CFT wrote:Could it be just Shouri drawing Rain in a "weird"/unrecognizable way? Anastasia and Cerise are on two separate levels of power and ability. It'd be like expecting Ava to shrug off someone's attempt at mind control, just because Faith made it look easy.CFT wrote:As for the "intervention" being acceptable or not (from a narrative point of view), I'd say that yes, it does feel a bit like an unecessary development to the story (as we've seen Anastasia laugh off a similar stab that was even made with a magical sword spefically chosen to kill her, so Cerise doing the same would seem "natural" to us)
Cerise neither seems to be as powerful, or as resilient, as Ana is; even in her current state. But that doesn't automatically mean she's weak either. She just isn't broken (as in, haxx) the way Ana is.
She may feel betrayed, but I'd say that stab wound was serious if Hecate felt the need to step in and help her. Otherwise, she could've waited for Cerise to recover.CFT wrote:I'm also still a bit curious if Cerise's total inaction (not even a "scream" as fake-Skye pointed) is 100% due to being very seriously wounded or if it's also partially due to the shock of getting backstabbed by your most trusted one. Well Hekate is the real villain ... how is Melissa to handle her? It now nearly 8 months since the six girls disappeared and this "battle" is anything but epic ... it more loosely goosey at best ... Still not seeing any reason why the whole secret origin is of importance so far. But that just my opinion, unless things improve this may be Dave's first botch job as a story teller ... shall see if the next few installments improve the story any. But so far it is a WTF?
I still stand by my opinion that this Cerise thingy is a debauchery (even after private messages with @TCampbell). It my opinion that Dave's is weak at relating blow by blow combat, perhaps he should stay to comedy (his strong point).
Over all I like vast majority of the cast of Magic Chicks, and await the return of Jacqui and Tiffany. I have enjoyed the comedy that has in the past been Magic Chicks forte. Maybe after Melissa (Resistance) defeats but not kill (kill) Cerise say best 5 out of 9 ... shades of Bill and Teds Bogus Journey will Hecate just admit defeat?
On the plus column Rain looked looking good with dark hair. Thanks Shouri!
And lastly Greek gods of old would never put up with Hekate blatant abuse of power without they themselves directly sending an Avatar, so feel a little cheated that the feel of Greek mythology is being shelved/ignored so far in the story telling.
