I think it should go back how the romans decided. Female = one who desires to be penetrated
Male = one who desires to penetrate.

The idea is base gender on the physical action and not preference or how one feels what they are. Either someone getting penetrated or they are not. Either one receiving or giving. Thats the very very very old and pre-christian idea of what male and female was and it makes for less confusion. Even if you are intex sex, it still comes down to the act of receiving or giving.
So two men could be technically considered male and female under this classification or vice versa.

The idea of female = receptive and male =- productive is not limited to Rome but many old cultures.

It also based on the role the person played. Which would acknowledge there is a difference between men and women but at least it makes it simple.

Ace has plenty of backbone, he's just never allowed to benefit from it since, each time he's stood up for himself, the writers have given Layla the means to immediately shut him down. We've also seen him tell Melissa off and he stuck to his guns with Twiggit too. They're few and far between, but he's had his moments.

But he isn't the type who normally gets in anyone's face, 'cuz he's too nice a guy for that. The problem is, you and Cranium seem to be confusing meekness with weakness, because they're not the same thing. Ace knows how to speak up whenever he's felt he's had enough, but he'd rather not because he doesn't want to hurt anyone's feelings.

Why is the idea of Ace using this as a case of character development such a bad idea?

Ace has had plenty of character development already; not that I'm opposed to him receiving more. Though he didn't need this to happen (being stuck with Blair), for that to happen (more character development).

Biting your school mates might get you expelled...uhm I wonder if it is because of the sexual undertone of the bite (which is considered so according to Dio and Layla) or because of the fact it is an assault.

Also how would the school have grounds for expelling her? It happened outside school property.

While there's a legitimate case to be made for not punishing students who have been doing things like tweeting dumb things on their own time, Felony Assault probably gets a special exception since (in my experience) many parents are overprotective of their children and having a violent person prone to eating students around can only be described most kindly as distracting to the curriculum.

It was a probem during the "Kissing Booth" bonus story in vol.0, which counted as a strike against the booth being open. And it's the reason she wound up having to transfer to Tartarus, because as long as she couldn't control her power, she was a danger to the other students.

The only reason Blair picked Ace out of a theater full of people he could have inhabited, he choose him. Thats because he is easy, submissive and a part of him want to be like Blair or wants Blair in him. Otherwise it would naturally eject him. Layla is not going to be easy.

I keep hearing this but what evidence do we have of it? The series has said nothing about the mechanics of how Blair possesses things. At present my best guess is Ace won't be rid of him until Blair decides to leave and/or reveals how to get him out.

I had a passing interest in reading about the occult when in high school. My views are on based on the materials I knew at the time.
