If Eugene and Maria KNEW this could happen and said nothing....then this is exactly what they deserve. Have fun!
Anti-Yuki till the grave claims me...

Kid Kool (1988) for the Nintendo Entertainment System is GROSSLY underrated. Sure the concept could've been presented a little better, but it doesn't deserve the hate it gets in some circles.

@bmleague99: How were they supposed to tell her?
  • Maria: (to younger Layla) "Listen sweetie, your father and I have something important to tell you: you know that evil b*tch you've been reading about in history class?"
  • Layla: "You mean, Queen Lamia? What about her?" :-\
  • Eugene: "What your mother's trying to say, pumpkin, is... that's you. Or was you, in your past life."
  • Maria: "Yes, you were killed in a horrifying manner, since the people didn't like you, dear. On the plus side, you were reborn as our daughter. So um... just don't raize anymore villages, kidnap and enslave innocent maidens, or slaughter would-be heroes again, and all should be dandy. Questions?" :)
  • Layla: ". . . . . . . !" :| :-T
I can't imagine many parents could break something like that to their daughter, and that's assuming she even believed them. Most kids would dismiss it as some sort of joke. So really, there probably wasn't any way to tell her. They probably figured it was best to let her find out on her on and explain things to her then.

Darn those teenagers with their pesky questions! ;)
On the positive side, Layla should now be a shoo-in for Prom Homecoming Queen. :))

So, the question is - is Nina still pissed at the fact that Layla kissed 'her' puppy, or - considering her childish obsession about being seen as a princess - is she jealous that Layla is actually a vampire queen reincarnated?
Please, don't come to me expecting me to fix your problems.

@Fluffy: It might be a bit of both, since Nina seemed to admire Lamia, but I'd say it has more to do with her sister kissing Ace again... though it was actually intended for Blair.

Errr... I'm not sure Eugene and Maria, or most vampires for that matter, would describe Lamia as an "evil bitch". Eugene used to talk about her to at least Nina and Nina didn't seem to see her as evil. Granted, she may not have completely understood that what Lamia did was evil...

Let's see, Eugene knew her and told stories about her like it was vampire fairytale. All in all, if they had known, they probably would have tried to prepare Layla for the moment the resurrection would have been completed. Or they assumed the resurrection spell failed and decided to raise "Lamia" as their daughter. I can suppose Blair's group understood the spell didn't fail and established a surveillance...on the wrong target.

True, I wrote that from a human perspective, rather than how vampire might see it. Nina did seem to admire Lamia when she was telling Ace about her, but this is the same girl who cheerfully told Dio that her family's enemies had all been wiped out ages ago. So I'm not sure if she's the best judge of how vampire-kind perceived Lamia.

I think the important question here is: how accurate are those accounts about the atrocities she's said to have committed? 'cuz there's at least two different versions. There's the stories Eugene told Nina and what they've been studying in the history books. The only one who can honestly confirm the validity of either of them is Laymia, herself. And even that has to be taken with a grain of salt, since she's obviously gonna be biased in her own favor, even if she was the horror she was made out to be.

Actually, I wonder if her parents knew, or if she's only assuming they did. I would have expected her to direct the question toward Eugene, since he's the one who's supposedly indebted to her. But how does she figure Maria knew anything about who she was? There's no guarantee that Eugene would've told her. :-\

Incidentally, can anyone clarify for me what wine goes with ketchup chips? Red or white?

Seeing as how the resurrection would be opposed by certain groups like whoever Blair is associated with then it makes perfect sense. Layla has always had a high opinion of herself. Do you think she could keep the knowledge that she's the vessel of Queen Lamia a secret when lording over everyone else?

I'm also wondering if Lamia's resurrection completion didn't come too soon. Maybe Eugene (and Maria) wanted to wait for Layla to reach vampire adulthood before completing it. Lamia may have 1000 years of memory, she's still in the body of a teenager, with all the weaknesses, hormonal and physical, it implies.

Ehh. I'm not too fond of this recent event. Layla was always a brat, but she still had (a few) likeable aspects. Awakening the unholy evil queen inside of her may wipe those out completely... :-\ I hope this can be reversed, but I'm not optimistic at this point.

I never much liked Layla, but what would be funny is if they found a way to put the queen into another doll body, two dolls Blair and Lamia ... could even market those LOL.
