But really... Melissa is too spoiled in that she expects everything she wants will be given to her on a silver plate. Cerise at least had a clue to borrow "Forbidden Magicks"...
It doesn't really help her when everything is basically handed to her on a silver plate. Like the wand, that wand has drastically improved her life in most aspects and it was basically just 'handed' to her.

Campanella looks like a realistic kitty (relatively to the art style, anyway). Whereas Tubby is freakishly anime. Even if just for that, I understand Mel's hostility.

Yeah that's true. Thinking about it this is probably the major reason for Cerise's resentment of Melissa. Having to work hard for something only to see someone be handed it is a reasonable reason to resent someone.

And yet Melissa does have to work for it. Yes, she's being forced to, but she does have to go through a Tiffany workout and training to do the martial arts. And as for the magic boost....well, that wand had to come from somewhere, so we don't know kf it was a free hand out or if she will have to work somehow to earn it to keep it.

Realization: Mel said the Wand ruined her lovelife. But the date with Ace is still ongoing. Does that mean things aren't gonna turn out well over in EC?

The Wand interrupted her date with Ace.

On timelines, the wand already did interfere with Ash. Granted, that was more Tiff's date, but I doubt Mel is going to make too much of a distinction.

This at once seems before and after the Ace-date. The wand sabotages her love-life, but she also has enough of an attachment to it that she's distraught and wants it back while Ash and Brooke are fighting.

That's the problem with crossover and tie-in comics, it's sometimes hard to tell what takes place when.
Good Lord. I'm shocked that all my years of shooting people in bunny outfits has in no way prepared me for this.

No, I saw him first! [-(

Anyway, I'm kinda disappointed that this isn't a short "intermission" chapter featuring only the two kitties.

So, "Tubby", huh? I'll stay with Mow, thank you very much.

A few things puzzled me about this update. For one, the art style, especially of Mel, looks kind of... old. And different from the more recent comics.

Also, Mow is behaving a lot like, well, partially a real cat and partially a sentient entity, but I had initially deemed him to be a more aloof "construct" that is somehow linked to the forces behind the wand.

Finally, I'll say some old comics need keyword updates now.

She's in the middle of a painful process - discovering that what you get for free turns out to cost more.
Given that she got into a magical contract without reading it. Not that she was in the position at the moment, but the thought didn't even come to her head.

She already ran off, and now that there's Brooke, even if Ace will follow her, it's only even-more-clearly over.

Er... she plainly stated the nature of her attachment just now. The moment Melissa learns a strong mind-shielding spell with duration of 10 hours or so, we'll see exactly how much of "attachment" she have to the Tacky Wand. And how well she can throw small objects now. 8-|
Unless there will be another ongoing crisis comparable to or worse than "Mel vs. Faith".

Poor Mow. (I'm not using Tubby, Mow has some class to it!) All the blame, none of the credit.

Yeah, I guess I didn't say that clearly. On this page, there is regret for the ruination - past tense - of her love life, but the first - present tense - blossoms of understanding her appreciation of the wand. Over Ace-wards, the wand is ruining her date in real time - present tense - but she already has the attachment specified above - past tense. It's a bit of a little circle. Romance ruin happens before she loves the wand, but she loves the wand before the datefail.

Of course, I see no problem with this whatsoever. Archie has been a high school junior for, what, seventy years?

Yes, Mel does look a bit off. I'm thinking it's the change in dress and the frequency we've been seeing Giz's Mel, but she looks like Chloe to me.

It's the hair. She has it down now rather than one side lined up. Otherwise, Mel looks like Mel to me.

Melissa admits the helpful part, but doesn't consider that "worth it". I don't see how it's appreciation - merely honesty.

And now, to an obvious joke no one yet made:
From now on, not a single aspect of Melissa's love life will escape the cat's attention! :ymdevil:
