This is looking more and more like a dream sequence.

First: They're part of the magic cadets, so it's really odd that Sandi (esper collective) and Callista/Tiff (combat corps) are both there for what seems like an intra-class exercise (as opposed to an inter-class one, where students from different disciplines fight).

Second: This is the first time we've seen them get to choose their own opponents. That's unusual enough to be noteworthy, especially since the only time we've seen it is in this Two Words chapter.

Third: Cerise is acting somewhat out of character. She's usually quite a bit more subtle than "summon giant bug to squash my rival".

Incidentally, it makes sense for Tiff to be there, even though Cerise (presumably) doesn't know about the training, because Tiff did go all fangirl on Melissa after she won the previous fight, and Cerise was there to see it.

The appearance of Sandi is an argument against the dream explanation. Who would dream about Sandi except Sandi herself?

I'd rather expect this style from one of "ponies". :)

AA is rough and tumble... if rather hands-off. We didn't see yet whether it's that negligent or that manipulative, though, and given enough reasons to suspect the latter, so unless this one already was a sneaky lesson, there may be something even worse.
Tako wrote:Seriously, Cerise, what are you thinking? You will be lucky is they just pushish you for taking the book! They may even suspect you and put you under surveillance to discover your true backstory...
I'm almost sure it's far too late to worry, on both accounts. :)

Yup, looks like "all the right people" case. Though they may set it up so others look and learn.

Yes. That's likely to mean it's either her wish-fulfilling dream... or a set-up (whether real or in dream).

Well Sandi seems to be at all the fights, no matter which groups are involved (she was there for the Combat Corp v Magic Cadet matches). That might be one of her duties as Student Council Secretary: to record the outcomes of all student matches.

As for Callie and Tiff. Maybe they both had a free period and decided to watch their friends spar?
Pointless arguing is one of the three pillars upon which the Internet is built. The other two are of course cat pictures and porn.

That, too. Besides they both are in "talked about" status currently, so both interested people hearing about this and curious observers dropping in are expectable.

To me it looks like it was visible in the previous panels. Melissa only had to find a matching bracelet. Though in the uniform it's hard to tell, yes.
Also, this was precisely the case that makes me think she may be more cautious about the wand now after the transformation on public. Depends on whether she's more afraid of this or Faith, of course.

Is there a reason to think so? I'm pretty sure the mask didn't came from within Tiff either, though of course may be mistaken.

No, glowy hamsterball of unconscious floating.

I doubt "traditionally" is appliable here. :))
Passing Through wrote:the watching girls will barely have any time to see her naked before the magical girl costume is on and she's fully powered up.
Uh... Melissa already expressed her opinion on "naked" vs "in the transformed outfit" very clearly. :))
Passing Through wrote:Oh she'd almost certainly make a spirited attempt at dying of embarassment, but that's all the more reason for it to happen. :)
And what, it's done and it's over?
Another possibility is Melissa sees how the rest of the school squees and have to decide whether she wants to sacrifice her own good taste for popularity. Which in itself would be interesting, especially character development -wise, and eventually she will have to choose what she wants, but done right now and like this, it could either give us one more Faith or land her in a situation without any good exit. In the "best" case, she'd just scream at the wand or their little genius loci that they're no better than Faith, with all the unappetizing details, and that she quits, and maybe allow to convince herself to return. I won't expect it to go that easy, though.

I think it's probably not a simple wish-fulfillment dream because, in that case, Faith would be there. (Cerise would want her to be watching.)

Otherwise, I'm still solidly in the "I don't know" camp.

Love the artwork and the story line, but have seriously grown tired of the whole Melissa/Cerise thing. Feels like I'm watching my sister's 3 y/o grand-kids "playing" together. ("Mine", "No! Mine") (-|

There's not all that much of it, IMO, except Callie&Skye arc. Then again, take a look at EC for some varie... oh, right... Tia. ;)

By that argument it could be anywhere at anytime. Also, if the grim death marches across the roof tops weren't enough to convince her to keep it out of range...

Umm... yes?

That was a failed transformation. No transformation since has had that problem.

Well obviously not, as such transformation sequences are typically over in a heartbeat or two from the point of view of in-Universe observers.

What of it? I was speaking of the timing.

It is very typical of them to make something big an intimidating like this and then in the next comic make it really not that big deal so I don't have high hopes for the giant cicada/leech thingy.

What I find more interesting is the first panel where they give an equal two votes for each. Now Cally and Tiff's votes go without saying but the fact that Cerise had to vote for herself while Jacqui went with Melissa is really good artistic representation of Cerise's own self indulgence. Particularly since they had Melissa silent though the whole thing showing a sort of silent confidence that outmatches Cerise's boisterousness.

Uh, it's not from Cerise, it's from Sandi behind her. Which also makes sense, since she may pout about Faith's excessive attention to Melissa.
