Not really, it was a fair fight and it's not like she nutted a tree this time.
We don't really know if it was a fair fight or not, actually. One pannel, we see Mel binded and about to get a beating, the next it was the reverse, with no clue about what happened. For all we know, she might have been helped somehow, making it a not so fair fight. Like an automated response from the wand :p

Well, apologies for getting all 'meta' and what all, but these students have to be accustomed to winning some and losing some. If any of them are going to get all flustered or whatever about one individual battle, they have a serious need to chill out.

If you can get to 50 without growing up, you don't have to.

Panel 5. The one on the left in the black dress. Though, the other is cute too.
Pointless arguing is one of the three pillars upon which the Internet is built. The other two are of course cat pictures and porn.

Competitions within the archers, ninja or sewing club are likely reglemented to go along fair sets of rules. But the students' abilities differ too much for any true and fair competition between disciplines.

During these fights against random opponents, the magic cadets suffer from one big handicap. They need some time to invoke their spells, whereas both espers and the combat corps can attack instantly. The most common way around this involves preparing your spells before the fight actually begins. Jacqui did this when fighting Chastity. Leandro did not object against her breaking any rules by working her illusions before the fight started or by even involving Sandi.

These fights are not set up with any regards to fairness at all. The students' are supposed to fight heroically, in the sense of persevering against unknown foes and overwhelming odds.

Unlike Melissa and Jacqui, Cerise hasn't become aware of her handicap at all. In her last fight, Callie's hint helped her. But she was saved by her ability to take her beating from Zora and invoke her spells regardless.

Instead of stealing that book, she'd better learn how to get protecting amulets she can slap on in an instant, similar to the one Ash used. Then she'd be out of character, though.

Yeah, I'm aware of that. It's just that I remember people saying Cerise cheated or didn't win fairly when she was helped by Callie vs the puppyphobiac. :p

Our friends' sanity begins to fray.
Perhaps we'll do this another day?

We have driven the Don quite mad
But somehow I feel not sad. :p

Ugh. Getting tired of all the Cerise-hate. Having been in a similar position - under the thumb of a power-hoarding peer who actively sniped at my self-confidence and sabotaged any efforts I made to shine on my own merits - my sympathies are firmly w/ Darkshade.

If Melissa actually treated Tiff w/ respect (thank you for helping me prepeare & train & succeed in thumping the Combat Corps @ their own game. I never could've done it w/o your help) and regarded her coven of Jaqui and Cerise as friends (Guys, I need to summon Hekate. I don't trust anyone else & I'd be grateful for your backing me up. Will you help me?) instead as her minions forever at her beck and call, yeah - Cerise's behaviour would be nothing but straight-up bitchiness & would warrant the contempt. But she's up against a self-absorbed jerk-face cut-a-bitch Mean Girl who makes Jennifer Rubin look like a model of magnanimity, so all the more power to her for reaching for the cheat codes.

"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you would not have come here."

Because it's not like her concerns about what happens to her own body are worth anything, right.

Well, duh. When one of these says "mean even for you" to another it's pot vs. kettle.
However, Melissa at least cared about Faith not getting harmed, even after the whole mind-rape episode. Cerise visibly improved after Skye's flip-out, but so far inconclusively.

To write a verse without the need to rhyme,
The form called 'blank' could be the one to use. :D

Anyway, they say 'rhyme or reason', and you certainly do well enough with the latter.
