Re: EC/MC General Discussion

Post by JustOnePost »

I made an account just to make this one post.

Among other webcomics, I frequent Ma3 and Eerie Cuties here and there when I get the chance. Ma3 is going along fine, but the constant character-crossovers in EC is making me lose interest. I wasn't too interested in Magick Chicks and the inclusion of MC characters in EC is getting a tad bothersome, since you use them as though we're already supposed to know who they are and what they do. Minor roles or cameos is fine with me, but they're playing a main part in the current storyline. I'm just asking that you try and keep the comics to their own "universes" for readers like me who don't read all your work.

Thanks.

You do realize that they are both set in the same 'Verse, yes? And the main four MC characters (The Coven and Tiff) all first appeared in EC? In my view, they are more two sides of the same story than they are seperate stories.

A thought just crossed my mind, and it gave me such a giggle, I had to share this

Imagine what would happen' if Blair somehow got loose inside...Artemis Academy. Considering what he does at'z'coed school, it's be hilarious seeing him in an all girls place.
Pointless arguing is one of the three pillars upon which the Internet is built. The other two are of course cat pictures and porn.

Vampire Hunter D, I think that's a wonderful idea. Let's see if others like it too. ;-)

What is the big deal about popularity anyway?

Post by Skytower »

Really I'm puzzled. There were those two who outed-sort of-Layla and Brook in an attempt to be the most popular, Cerise is cruelly using someone in a quest to be popular, Faith revels in her position as the most popular... what is the big attraction? Or is it just a girl thing? I was more or less scorned and/or hated through all of junior high and high school and I was quite happy. Why do the girls feel an intense need to be loved by all?

It's not just girls. Boys do this too, it just takes a different form.

Everyone desires group acceptance, even people who realize the group is wrong or unworthy peers. People are biologically hard-wired towards group consensus in a way that is somewhat incompatible with modern-day living. Combine immaturity with a lazy generation of parenting and you'll see young people acting stupid.

Maria's cameo over at VC, especially her comments in regard to Tiff, reminds me of something that has been bouncing around in my mind about Maria. How many of the rest of you feel like Maria knows a LOT more about what's going than anybody, save possibly Eugene, suspect. I gather that Eugene is the 'old blood' side of the relationship, but Maria is the one who keeps things going straight, even if it is behind the scenes.

Thoughts?

ETA: On a completely sideways tangent, part of me always hear the soundtrack to West Side Story when the subject of Mama Delacroix comes up... "I know a vampire name Mariiiiaaaaaa...."
"Don't call me a dirty old man.... Cuz I'm not old... I'm of a fine vintage..."
"Get your mind out the gutter... you're crowding me."

I can't say that I've seen Maria as anything out of the ordinary up to now. I've seen her as an intelligent and sexy MILF character within the confines of the storyline but, as you say, the VC cameo and the earlier comments about the covenant between the hunter and vampire families do deepen her character considerably. It also raises the questions of why the covenant was enacted and what the consequences would be for the two parties if their respective communities knew about it. I'm guessing that any contacts are covert.

Pointless random speculation time:

The villain (or at least one of the top henchmen) in MC will turn out to be Mr Delatore. He is there constantly watching the students, evaluating if any might be the potential to get the power, and knows the power is there. The reason he was so shocked when told about the event is that it happened without alerting him. He either already knows who the hot librarian is, or will figure it out soon. The confrontation with him will involve either him taking Jacqui hostage, or her leading the attack, or both.

Remember what happened when he ran into Chloe while she was too hot for him? Since it mostly looks like Charybdis makes folk softer around the edges and Artemis goes into the opposite direction, Blair's career would be short, but loud. Unless Faith would catch him first and try to slightly "reform" him, that is.

We don't know much about Eugene... but Maria comes across as the Social Animal Supreme, yeah. A lioness, as opposed to all those wannabe alpha bitches. :D
This nice and soft style is built upon confidence. She rarely moved to put down something, but there was no making a big deal, no needless posturing - she was swift, firm and accurate about it.

Covert? Please. Remember those friendly Headmasters?
Artemis girls are trained to fight... each other, yeah. But they aren't taught specifically as monster hunters. Count misconceptions about the "monsters" expressed by them so far. The only things they got straight were stakes and Hekate, and not that it really changed anything. Tiffany is a ditz, aye, but she tried to take this seriously... which may be not quite coincidental, of course. Faith is self-absorbed, but she tries to at least show the perfection. Yet both ran in circles (if not on the same track) at the sight of Layla's little fangs. As Melissa said - "Why do you even want to kill vampires? Sure, they're snobby and insufferable..." :))
Yet the older generation doesn't seem to be ignorant or scared.
Summary: they are reasonably prepared to survive and possibly handle (with some guidance) an emergency of "succubus gone stark raving mad" level. However, "There are scary monsters around!" seems to be more of a pretext than caveat, and certainly falls short of being the dedicated purpose.

Has the update day changed from Tuesday to Monday for Magic Chicks?

I've started to wonder if there is a conspiracy at hand to try and turn the Hunters more into Enforcers- that is that they only go after the rogue monsters and leave the law abiding ones alone.

This implies there's already the community up to the ears in this, but still monster-hunting just because and are rather incompetent at that. It looks closer to that guest strip. :ymparty:
I suspect it goes in the opposite direction: both schools are clowning, but do their job too well.
CH folk turns into overpowered slobs, who are about as dangerous as ambitious "monsters" and more unpredictable to boot: they got no drive to try something messed up, but neither willpower or clear thinking to avoid it.
Thus both Panties and Orb incidents were results of those policies, inconvenient evidence of which was sent out of sight and out of mind. Though if the amnesia trick is genuine, this may indicate preparations for ongoing correction and finding a pretext for it.
Conversely, AA folk turns into genuine witch-hunters, which in addition to attacks (and quite possibly either party winding up dead or maimed) as such is going to rock the boat badly.
The results: Tiffany's harebrained raid (even if it did end well) and Faith's run-in with Layla (which without Tiffany would get one of them killed).
