Yeah, but Faith also tapped into the school's power at that time.
Understand me, what I'm saying is that assuming Mel would have managed to land such a magic-enhanced hit on Faith (big assumption to begin with) and there'd have been a wall behind her for good measure, well, I agree that Faith probably wouldn't have been as affected as Tandy, but we don't know for sure if she'd have quite laughed it off like she did with the blasts used on their own.

The hardest physical blow we've seen her take, was when she smacked her own head on the ceiling - which left her dazed afterward. But that was from super-jumping inside the house, so we don't know how the impact compares to the one Tandy took from Mel's magically supercharged b-smack.

The reason I say that, is because we don't know the speed of Faith's super-jump, 'cuz she had to be moving pretty damn fast to avoid that second claw swipe from Layla. She may not have cracked the ceiling, but she definitely rattled her skull enough that her speech was slurred (internal monologue, no less).

But, for now, I'm inclined to agree.

Faith made a point of not using her esper abilities when fighting Layla, so no "super-jump" was involved, methinks. (In light of other, more recent pieces of information about her, I reckon a case can be made for Faith having shortcommings when it comes to switching her abilities off)

And typing this brings to my mind some scary thoughts that may have been brought up on the forums back then, but I wasn't around at the time.
Viewed in a certain way, the most spectacularly scary thing Faith managed to do during that scene was holding tightly the Idiot Ball while Tiffany Winters was in the same room. But it becomes even more scary when one reckons that the reason why Tiff holds the Idiot Ball so often isn't because she's actually an idiot*, but because she's a loony. And Faith, at that time, managed to get said loony to call her insane, and everyone agreed with her among the readers. And that is an especially scary feat. ;)

*And I seize this opportunity to highlight that the only character who seems to have figured out Faith's personality almost entirely from the very start is Tiff.

As in, "superhuman". Think 'Ranma ½', where characters can literally leap from street level onto rooftops.

It isn't possible to jump that high from a standing position (the average human can manage approx. 4-6 inches, or up to just over 1ft with training). Faith's jump was well beyond that, since she leapt high enough to hit the ceiling. Which is what I meant by Faith super-jumping inside the house.

Not really, since we've been told more than once that she's still formidable even without her powers.

If you had her level of prowess, would you have reason to doubt yourself? :-\

According to the editor, her confidence in her abilities are (quote): "at least, mostly justified". So I wouldn't say it was idiotic, she was showboating... until she forgot they were fighting indoors. #-o

Well... there's "reaching the rock bottom" and then there's "making a crater in the rock bottom". :ymdevil:

Ah, an 'Untouchables' reference. :-? I remember that scene... I hated seeing Sean Connery get shot. :(

But Elliot settled the score for him, so it was all good. B-)

Who talks about volcanic? I thought "impact" was clearly implied. Allow me to illustrate. For example, what we see here:
Image
  1. The rock bottom.
  2. A huge hole with the floor remaining 25 m (about 10 house stories) below this rock bottom, even after melted parts solidified and it all was covered by sand. Whatever made it is mostly buried much deeper - the parts that remained unvaporized, anyway.
  3. The distinctive rim around said hole where solid stone was forced to move up to 25 m above its former place and remain there merely due to its proximity to this event. Any unattached objects that weren't obliterated on the spot probably were hurled much higher (and farther).
Kind of like this. The last part may demonstrate the quality of this metaphor by retaining its appliability. ;)

Ok, just had a realization. One of those " why didn't I see that before" moments. But dont think I've seen it mentioned by anyone here either. And that is the name Melissa is greek for honey bee. So the character who was meant to be the Queen Bee archetype is actually named for what she was to be.

Ok, just had to share.
Pointless arguing is one of the three pillars upon which the Internet is built. The other two are of course cat pictures and porn.

@vampire hunter D: All honey bees aren't queens. Out of a colony of thousands (sometimes hundreds of thousands, depending on the size of the hive/colony) there'll only be a dozen or so potential queens. And, out of that group, only one will actually go on to become queen - by killing the others off (either by starving them by denying them nourishment, or by feeding on them directly). And that's while they're still in the larval stage.

Either way, Mel was (and still is) an alpha female, but she's never quite attained queen bee status 'til recently. 'cuz Layla held that distinction at Charybdis, despite Mel's attempts to overthrow her. While Faith was the queen bee at Artemis, 'til she finally handed her position to Mel.

That came to my mind a while ago. Of course it doesn't work so well with "Alpha Bitch".

Is that... Ilsa in her parade uniform? Or some relative? :)

Another thought: it seems that for just about every flavour of every fetish, there's an individual succubus adapted to it. After all, they are pretty much anthropomorphic personifications of Rule 34, right?
It takes all kinds, right? There got to be lean and chubby, short and tall, blonde and brunette...
And even if shapeshifting makes phenotypes less important, just about everything is a turn-on for someone and turn-off for someone else, so there got to be mean and nice, shy and exhibitionistic, giggling and angsty, ditzy and keen... refined succubi with taste for talks about painting who wear complicated evening dresses and... less commonly thought of, yet rather widely appreciated types. Such as a no-nonsense succubus with taste for heavy machinery, who wears plain and practical, yet rather skimpy clothes splattered with motor oil. Hmm?.. ;)

So I don't know if this is the proper place for this question, but I was wondering what the colour of Chloe's uniform was? I know her shirt isn't white because it's shaded darker than her skirt in the comic. And I haven't seen any full colour photos of it anywhere(I've been searching) but I was wondering if their was maybe some cover art or something I've missed? Anything would be appreciative. Thank you!
