Here's a thought. Mel did not loose any 'civilian' clothes when she changed, so it is most likely that changing back would leave her starkers, unless the wand has some kind of mechanism for that too. So, will Mel try to get home in her new outfit, or do something else. It doesn't help that Hekate may be still hanging around the ritual site, which Mel most likely went to in casual clothes...
