I'm sure Chloe's comeuppance is waiting in the wings so like I said, pyrhic victory. Chloe's downfall is yet to come, but she definitely sabotaged Layla's engagement with Dio and when you think about it she didn't do anything evil. Self-serving yes, but she turned Kade back into a boy and let Layla overreact when she feigned attraction.

I wonder whether this is a sign of true affection or territoriality/possessiveness, though.

Nice to see Layla angry for more virtuous reasons: her boyfriend about to become a soulless husk. Loved her animation in that panel, very intense, shows how much Kade really means to her, despite her feigning apathy with him a lot of the time. But you know, I didn't realize how much I had missed boy Kade until I saw him again...in a playboy bunny outfit. Okay, that much I didn't miss. 
Though, yes, this will definitely compicate things between Layla and Dio. Big loss, the guy's a walking vampiric plot device; I'll be kinda glad when he's out of the picture.
But what will The Amazing Gender-Bending E-Chloe do next?
Ahem...four updates until longest EC chapter yet! (I know I'm a relentless geek.)
