I'd venture the third stick is hidden behind the other two in the first panel, you do see the chains top and bottom. Gripping it with one hand logically means not having three sticks in a row, but assuming a more cylindrical shape.

So did I. It's gone now. What's up with that? :((

If you can get to 50 without growing up, you don't have to.
There are very few personal problems which can't be solved by a suitable application of high explosives.

Wow, it's been totally changed!

The "last place" comment is now said by Tiff on the right, and the "Hehe" reaction as well as the hand is completely gone! :-o

WHAT IS THIS MADNESS!

Glad I saved the picture beforehand... #:-s

It's actually the second time this was changed (at least), though most of you probably didn't catch that. The earlier incarnation lacked Tiff's chibby face and had the textballoon with an indented flag to mark that it wasn't coming from Faith.

My guess is the first change was to eliminate confusion as to who said what.

The second change was probably because the creators felt the chibi face was sort of the wrong tone or killing the gravity of a presumably life or death situation.

Sorry to make a wise-ass remark and then disappear for the weekend, but family was over to celebrate my impending birthday (yay...).

My major complaints against the sanjiegun are that until you master it, you're as likely to induce GBH in yourself as others. Mind you, its just Faith's style, flashy and impressive and I can see her choosing it long before she's ready to use it in a RL melee. The other problem is that, unlike a western flail, its a completely wooden weapon (except for the chains) without the mass needed to easily crack bones. I have seen a sanjiegun used with a pinning/breaking maneuver that was just brutal but for that you need to be in kissing distance of your opponent. For zombie crowd control, I'd want a staff. Not great at breaking bones, but you can keep pushing your foes away and a 2 handed blow to the head will induce naptime even thru an SCA-approved helmet.
