I'm not sure anyone at Artemis Academy is the appropriate party for this investigation. Do we trust the teachers? What if investigating the wand leads them to the information that the coven are witches? The story ends rather abruptly with three dead girls. Should it be given to a magic student? Same problem, and they may not have the resources or the ability to either figure it out or deal with it if it should do something. Faith knows people all over, and can likely get semi-expert assistance and information whenever she needs it. And she is less likely to simply kill or report the coven: she'd probably be more interested in using the knowledge as leverage (or she may genuinely care and not give it up because she doesn't want them to die, you never know).
Short of finding a trustworthy adult, Faith probably
is the best person to handle this. The safest person, at least. And boy does that seem like a strange thing to say.
All of this, however, depends on what the wand actually is and what it does. Right now we really don't know specifics. It could be very bad for Faith to have it, because she could be an evil monster trying to conquer the world, and the wand is Magical Maid Melissa's only way of stopping her. Or it could be not-so-bad: see above. Right now we just don't know.
