Actually, that just seems to be the way this strip (I'd have to go back to see if it's a general theme or just this one, but I'm lazy) is colored. The background is dark, but the characters all have a warmer, brighter presence (which bleeds into the background a little). Not sure if there's any symbolism in this coloring choice, of if it's just aesthetic -- Gisele would probably have to answer that one (or if perhaps there's an unconscious symbolism of how she sees the characters in her aesthetic choices -- probably need a psychologist to answer that one... or a bored lit student)

I think it may be Ghost Girl's glow reflecting of them.
