Okay, I goofed in that I thought Eerie Cuties was PG, and not PG-13.

The rest of what I said, however ... *sighs*

You see the outline of Brooke's thigh, nothing more. It is no more than what one may see from a bikini.

The laws of justice systems get fuzzy when the laws of physics have already been broken. Also, you don't watch much TV, do you? These kinds of plots come up all the time, even in shows that are for general audiences. Not only that, but there are reality TV shows that run on this premise, at times just as much against the will of the recipient as now. People come into your home and say you're not good enough, your stuff is not good enough, that they have the right to say your life is acceptable or not. Ace and Brooke should thank the Netherworld that their humiliation is private and by people who aren't judging them, but just see it as a party game (except maybe Layla).

Eris, I like your posts, but the amount of moralizing you do on some of this strips is just ridiculous.

It's a pg-13 comedy comic about fictional characters, not some deep sociological comic concerned with deep ramifications over peoples mental health and Id identities.

In the words of the MST3K intro: "just repeat to yourself it's just a show, I should really just relax" :D

Maybe if you all bang the "it's just a comic" drum loud enough only people who share your views about the comic will come here anymore.

Please, for the love of pete, let them be. I, for one, welcome dissenting opinions as I don't need to have mine reinforced by the tribe for it to be worth having.

Besides, I much rather prefer a multifaceted discussion over fanboying or fangirling about things.

No offence Bob but that what you and I were having before announced we were not. It would seem to me that you are attempting to do it again, but now against everybody that expresses opinions to which you disagree with. It is as you are trying to unilaterally discredit one point of view in an ongoing discussion. With a few exceptions within the train wreck these debates have actually been quite civil, sort of like the free expression of ideas. If you really believe in the free exchange of idea you should not try to play favorites on whose arguments are ligament. Your point about "For Pete's sake let it be" works for all sides in the discussion and all points of view. When you are going to express a dissenting opinion you have got to expect it to be challenged. If you are going to continue to express them you have to expect they will continue to be challenged, not complain on how they are continuing to do so.

I think BobDole has a point. "It's just a comic." is not a debating point between people holding differing views but is a dismissal of the other person's viewpoint. It gets trotted out far too easily, IMO.

Why would she be subjecting Ace to this treatment?
Why not? She was sad about not being as beautiful as she should be, its only natural she is trying to help others to look great. Being succubus, she probably like pretty things.

Considering Brooke could turn into her alternate form or try to call Maria, she probably does not mind that bad - it's a party, right?

You both have a point, but said debating point actually shouldn't have to be used.
If we all let go a bit, we shouldn't be having discussions on how people project their own insecurities onto the characters in Ma3 and EC...

It is not a debate, It is a discussion. Maybe that is the problem.

I just noticed something. Brooke apparently wasn't wearing a bra.....b-(

She just denies the existence of her boobs, therefor deeming a bra as not neccessary. :p

Eris Lobo wrote:I may be prudish, but I see some things in today's strip that are serious problems if our two marvelous authors don't want Eerie Cuties to become PG-13.

For one, we have a teenage girl FORCING another teenage girl to remove her clothes for the entertainment of a roomful of other people!!! I'm sorry, but ANYBODY forcing ANYBODY to REMOVE THEIR CLOTHES AGAINST THEIR WILL constitutes sexual assault in the United States, and I suspect the same is true in Canada. Felony, folks.

If they force Brooke and Ace to share a shower while naked, that would also be sexual assault, to my knowledge.

Everybody there knows that Ace is male mentally, so this becomes sexual assault against the opposite gender, which is borderline rape.

Finally, we see enough of Brooke's naked crotch to know that she doesn't have pubic hair. That's pretty darn PG-13 in my opinion.

Eerie Cuties is definitely becoming in league with Menage a 3. If that's what the authors want Eerie Cuties to become, so be it. And if it's what the reading audience wants, then more power to them. It just saddens me, though.

*sighs*
OK, NOW I see what the 'plea for sanity' thread was about. My gawd, I had no idea anyone was taking this that seriously. "Assault?" "Sexual assault against the opposite gender (as if their respective genders mattered!)?" "Rape???"

They're girls doing a makeover session, for crissakes. Guys, and I'm sure at times girls, roughhouse and toss one another into showers and far worse and no one calls it a "sexual assault," why is this any different?

Please, this goes beyond mild cartoon-character obsession and in fact suggests some unhealthy preoccupations in the poster. I think you should apologize to Giz and Dave.
