It's steadily becoming difficult to think of her as the same person. As CFT pointed out, this seems more like early "Faith's" behavior (between vols.1-2).

Did Faith's behaviour ever actually change in that respect? It never got as much emphasis again, but every indication (including her "mind-sexting" at Tiff) was that it continued, it just stopped getting the same degree of focus.

Yes, she really has. We saw the beginning of her turnaround when she said it, herself, (panels 5&6). When she made that crack about skinny-dipping, Tiff thought she was serious, but Faith had only been kidding about that, which is why she found it funny (in a good way).

Faith still flirts with her, but as you said, it's been dialed back.

What I see there is Brooke being in that situation thanks to her own desires and listening to Tabitha being open about it being to grab some guy's attention (as bad as that is). I wouldn't think she is leading her on at all.

@Luxlucis: I'm pretty sure Brooke wasn't paying attention to what Tabitha was saying; not all of it, anyway. Tabitha thought Brooke was just pretending to be bi-curious to attract guys - whereas Brooke thought Tabitha was okay with her experimenting, with no strings attached.

Problem is, Brooke whispered that part, not that Tabitha was listening anyway, 'cuz she was busy trying to figure out which guy's attention she thought Brooke was trying to get.

I like Layla/Brooke. It's one of my favorite "couples that can be/could have been", all 'verses and orientations included. But yeah, while I found this little tidbit fun, it's not really Layla anymore... and I don't see that ending very well. Also a hint that Quintlayla would achieve her empire by charming people, rather than confronting them with brute force?

In 1000 years, she had enough time to learn to know her peers, and what made them tick. Why wouldn't she? Brooke seems to be weak to the direct approach - If anything, I think this would work better on her than more discrete flirtings.

... Not to mention, Quintlayla seems to be following an already established trend in the EC-MC-verse, which can be summed up as follows : power > assurance > directness > get the girls ! (the terms' order might be subject to change) [see also : Faith ; Cerise ].

depends on the intent. If you want them to to be at your heels like Cleopatra did to Caesar, then yes being upfront isnt the way to go.

Was it ever said she was truly cold-blooded? And for it to be more than a throw-away line we would need to see her get more sluggish in cold places.

Not to mention there are different "levels" of being cold blooded (i.e. the metabolism of a monitor lizard is a lot higher than an iguana).

Anyway, she can physically morph her scaly, legless, snake form into one that looks fully human. Blushing should be easy if her body can do that. ;)
